Application Process

Interviews for IM residency

Every week on Tuesday, we have virtual interviews scheduled. On Thursday, we have in-person interviews scheduled. Emails will be sent to those chosen for interviews. If you receive an interview invitation, a program coordinator will send you a link to Thalamus GME to set up your interview time on your own. Interviews conducted from October 01 through January 31. The cut-off date for application submissions is: 

If you need to reschedule, you can do so whenever you’d like, up to three days before the actual schedule date.

 

Selection Criteria

Residents are selected based on the following key criteria:

  • Academic credentials
  • Character
  • Initiative
  • Integrity
  • Communication skills

 

TCRH Residency Program does not discriminate based on one’s sex, sexual orientation, race, age, color, national origin, disability, veteran status, or religion.

The following minimum requirements must be fulfilled by applicants in order to be considered for a PGY-1 position:

  • Applicants must participate in the Electronic Residency Application Service (ERAS) and the National Resident Matching Program (NRMP)
  • Applicants to the residency program must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis and clean background
  • Applicants must have taken USMLE Steps 1 and 2, or COMLEX 1 and 2. Preference is given to applicants that also passed Step 3.

 

Preferred 3 months US clinical experience with supporting LOR (for IMG)

Candidates with close ties to the Southwest United States region are preferred.

No minimum cut off score required

One attempt permitted in USMLE or COMLEX exams

We will sponsor J-1 visa

Preference given to applicants that graduated in past 5 years

 

Match Process

Our program takes part in the NRMP Match for filling all PGY1 roles. Our NRMP Code (will update) Therefore, we adhere to the NRMP Codes of Conduct and Policies/Procedures. If you have any questions after the interview, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

 

Onboarding & Orientation

Matched applicants will be sent an email to the address provided in their ERAS application. This email will contain essential information about onboarding and orientation. The onboarding process will take place in New Innovations, utilizing a checklist that includes a deadline for each step. Program Coordinator will send frequent email to check status on required documents.  Kindly follow the deadlines to ensure that your training begins on July 1.

TCRH conducts a week-long orientation during the final week of June. Exact dates and additional information will be shared after Match Day. On Visa candidates are required to arrive in Las Cruces by June 15 for smoother transition, get situated and acclimate

Orientation will occur Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Our program will provide you with the resources and instruction you need to start your first year of residency successfully.
