Employer-Sponsored Health Insurance Benefits

Beginning on the first of the month after orientation (July 1st), residents are eligible to receive medical, dental, and vision care. This eligibility lasts for the duration of any authorized sick, parental/caregiver, bereavement, jury duty, and one-time medical leave of absence, provided that benefit premiums are paid. It is possible to choose each benefit option separately. Additionally, dependent coverage is offered.

Three Crosses Regional Hospital covers a portion of the cost of medical coverage, but residents are also required to pay a portion of the premiums on a biweekly basis.

 

Medical Benefits

  • Medical insurance shall commence on the first of the month following date of hire (July 1st of PGY) (BCBS PPO, HSA)
  • Dental insurance is an option for you and/or your family at a minimal expense
  • Vision insurance is an option for you and/or your family at a minimal expense
  • Flexible spending accounts – Resident physicians may elect to participate in the flexible spending account program for health and dependent care expense reimbursements.

 

Paid Time-Off (PTO) and Leave(s) of Absence

  • 15 days per year of vacation, sick and personal, see program policy for details.
  • New Mexico Healthy Workplaces Act – In addition to paid time off allowance, employees are eligible to earn one hour of paid sick leave for every 30 hours worked. Employees can use up to 64 hours of NM earned sick leave in a rolling 365-day period and can rollover up to 32 hours per training year
  • On the first day following orientation, up to six weeks of one-time parental, caregiver, or medical leave will be available. But first must exhaust PTO days for the same PGY year
  • Life Insurance provided to residents by Three Crosses Regional Hospital
  • Professional Liability Insurance; TCRH professional liability insurance to residents to protect them while they carry out their tasks and responsibilities within the training program. Moonlighting activities are not covered.

Educational Fund Stipend

Each resident’s education fund is a certain amount per academic year. It is not eligible for payout and has no carryover. Need to submit receipts to GME office for reimbursement. Funds must be used toward conferences, USMLE step 3 or any medical educational activity.
