Las Cruces is located approximately 26 miles from White Sands Missile Range and White Sands Test Facility. Spaceport America, the world’s first commercial spaceport, is located about 45 miles north of Las Cruces. Las Cruces is the headquarters for Virgin Galactic, a space
tourism company found by Richard Branson and Virgin Galactic’s suborbital spacecraft were used to send Richard Branson to space in 2021. Virgin Galactic is the world’s first company to offer sub-orbital spaceflights.
