Dr. Hassan Ali has dedicated his career to delivering exceptional patient care. Born in Pakistan and raised in Brooklyn NY. After earning his bachelor’s degree from Brooklyn College, he pursued his medical training at the American University of Antigua, followed by an Internal Medicine residency at Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso, Texas, which he completed in June 2021. During residency he received “Resident of the year for inpatient rotations” and won IM ACP quiz dilemma for Southwest Texas region.
Dr. Hassan serves as the Program Director at Three Crosses Regional Hospital and wears many hats as a hospitalist, primary care physician, and Chief of Medical Staff. In Addition, he has dedicated his career to shaping the next generation of medical professionals. As a clinical preceptor for Burrell Medical School, he draws on his wealth of expertise to guide students through the practical application of their studies, instilling in them a unwavering commitment to excellence. His unwavering dedication to mentorship has made him an invaluable asset to the institution, helping to cultivate a new wave of skilled, compassionate clinicians poised to make a meaningful impact on the healthcare landscape. He enjoys the easy access to hiking and outdoor activities that Las Cruces has to offer when he’s not busy improving lives at the hospital.
Dr. Khan is currently working as Chief Medical Officer at Three Crosses Regional Hospital, Las Cruces NM. He is also Medical Director for Hospital Medicine and Internal Medical Clinics at Three Crosses. He is working as Associate Professor of PreClinical Medicine at Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine. He is board certified in Family Medicine and Hospital Medicine. He holds a Masters in Business and Health Care Law. He recently finished his CPE and is Board Certified by American Board of Quality Assurance and Utilization Review Physicians. He has a certification from Emory in leadership as Chief Medical Officer. He is a fellow of American Academy of Family Physicians and Society of Hospital Medicine. He graduated from Dow Medical College and completed residency at East Tennessee State University. Over his career he has served in multiple leadership roles. As a Designated Institutional Officer he has been successful in getting initial accreditation for Three Crosses Regional Hospital with ACGME to start training the next generation of physicians. He is a strong advocate for patients and physicians. Mental Health Advocacy for physicians and physician burn out are his areas of focus. One of his focus is health care equity in the community he serves.
Dr. Muhammad Shahzad, board certified IM physician and Core Faculty of IM residency. I was born in Pakistan and pursued my medical education at the Latin American School of Medicine in Havana, Cuba. Following my studies, I spent four years working in Uruguay as a Hospitalist and in a small community emergency room. In 2022, I completed my residency in Internal Medicine in the Bronx, New York. After acquiring valuable academic experience through a residency program in New Jersey, I relocated to Las Cruces to join a team dedicated to establishing a new Internal Medicine residency program. What I appreciate most about the Three Crosses Internal Medicine residency program is the commitment demonstrated by both the hospital and departmental leadership. This collaboration fosters an environment where the residency leadership team plays a crucial role in ongoing self-assessment and enhancement, ensuring that Three Crosses remains an outstanding training ground that produces exceptionally trained physicians for the community. My primary passion in my role is to teach clinical reasoning and evidence-based medicine as a core faculty member at Three Crosses Regional Hospital.
Dr. Mario Salinas was born in El Paso and raised in Juarez, Mexico. He completed his medical training in Juarez and later finished his residency in Internal Medicine in El Paso, Texas. Presently, he works as a full-time hospitalist and holds the roles of chairman of the Utilization Review Committee and Vice Chief of Medical Staff. Since his graduation, he has been actively engaged in the education of medical students, currently teaching at a local medical school and will be serving as core faculty for the internal medicine residency program. His areas of expertise include both inpatient and outpatient internal medicine, and he is committed to supporting individuals in the border region. In his free time, he enjoys hiking, listening to Latin music, and spending quality moments with his wife.
Dr. Karam Elahi is a board-certified physician in Internal Medicine, possessing four years of experience in delivering outstanding patient care. He is currently employed as a full-time Hospitalist, serves as core faculty for the Internal Medicine residency program, and mentors Burrell Osteopathic medical students. Dr. Elahi earned his medical degree from Punjab Medical College in Faisalabad. He then completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at South Brooklyn Hospital, where he developed expertise in primary care and essential aspects of Internal Medicine. In addition to his clinical work, he has made significant contributions to various research initiatives. His published articles in prominent medical journals have influenced both clinical practices and policy decisions within the medical community. His dedication to education has been recognized with multiple awards, including the title of Best Teaching Resident during his residency. Beyond his professional commitments, Dr. Elahi enjoys engaging in paddle sports and tennis, activities that contribute to a balanced lifestyle and foster a healthy work-life equilibrium.
Dr. Sheeba Tauhid-Imran is a Clinical Teaching Faculty member at Three Crosses Regional Hospital’s Internal Medicine Residency Program. A graduate of Dow Medical College, she completed her Internal Medicine Residency at Mountain View Regional Medical Center, where she has held leadership roles as the Social Chair for the Lifestyle Medicine Interest Group and Resident Liaison (LMIG) and a Resident Liaison for the American Society of Laser Medicine and Surgery (ASLMS). Dr. Tauhid has a special interest in Point-of-Care Ultrasound (POCUS), integrating it into both her clinical practice and teaching to enhance diagnostic accuracy, safety and patient outcomes.
In addition to her academic role, Dr. Tauhid is a co-founder of Laser 360 MD Med Spa & Skin Clinic established- in 2016. The clinic specializes in regenerative aesthetic medicine, non-invasive procedures, and wellness-oriented skin care.
Known for her approachable demeanor, Dr. Tauhid is dedicated to equipping residents with tools for success, emphasizing comprehensive care, advanced technologies, and lifestyle interventions. Outside of work, Dr. Tauhid is a dedicated mother of two, an advocate for a balanced lifestyle, and enjoys traveling, exotic cars, playing chess, tennis, and basketball.
Core faculty and nocturnist. He completed medical school from University of Jordan Medical School. Did residency Morristown Memorial Hospital and had over 10 years of teaching Internal Medicine residents. Dr. Al-Rahamneh has own YouTube channel where he post medical teaching videos.

Dr. Shiza Akhtar is an internist at Three Crosses Regional Hospital in Las Cruces, providing comprehensive long-term care for adults and the elderly. She manages a range of common and complex illnesses, including those affecting the heart, blood, kidneys, joints, and systems such as digestive, respiratory, and vascular. Her training in primary care internal medicine emphasizes disease prevention, wellness, mental health, and treatment of conditions involving the eyes, ears, skin, nervous system, and reproductive organs.
Dr. Akhtar completed her Bachelor of Science in Medicine and her Internal Medicine Residency at Montefiore Medical Center’s Wakefield Campus in New York, where she also conducted Quality Improvement research on enhancing patient discharge communication.
Shiza and her family are excited to join the
Las Cruces community. In her free time, she enjoys cooking, knitting, writing, and reading.
Dr. Khan has been focused on helping people with endocrine health issues ever since he entered the University of Nevada Las Vegas for his B.S. in Biology. Soon afterwards, he completed his medical degree at the University of Nevada Reno School of Medicine and later worked with patients as an internal medicine resident at Las Palmas and Del Sol Medical Center in El Paso, TX. He is a member of the Endocrine Society, the American Medical Association, and the American Association of Clinical Endocrinology. He is board certified in IM and endocrinology. Dr. Talha Khan is a full-time employee at the TCRH endocrinology clinic and is very engaged in training residents.
With extensive experience in Southern New Mexico and West Texas, Terry Boulware, M.D. has been caring for patients since he was an intern and resident of Anatomical Pathology at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, in 1977. He earned his degree from the University of Missouri – Kansas City and later went on to be a medicine intern and resident at John’s Hopkins University Hospital. Immediately afterwards, he completed his cardiology fellowship and went on to Emory University where he did his interventional cardiology fellowship.

Dr. Duran is the CEO and Medical Director of Southwest Center on Aging, Let’s Celebrate Aging and founder of GeriTalks. He has over a decade of training, academic, and research experience that has shaped his profound knowledge in his field, including completing a residency in Internal Medicine at Texas Tech University Health Science Center in El Paso, and accomplished fellowships in Geriatrics and Palliative Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX. Dr. Duran was also part of the medical staff at the Methodist Hospital and a postdoctoral fellow in Echocardiography at the Methodist DeBakey Heart Center in Houston, TX. In addition, he was also appointed Clinical Associate Professor at the University of New Mexico, Burrell College of Medicine and Mountain View Internal Medicine Residency in the Department of Medicine and Geriatrics. Dr. Duran has been Medical Director of multiple nursing homes and he is currently Medical Director for Home Health and Hospice here in Las Cruces, NM. Dr. Duran when he is not working, you can find him spending precious time with his wife, two daughters, and son. As an avid golfer, he also takes joy in being a caddie for his son, who plays competitive golf.
